After a kind of relaxed flight we arrived in the capital of Thailand. We slept a few hours due to the time difference and drove in a Tuk-tuk in a terrifying journey through the city. Ended up in Khao San Road which is of course a tourist trap. But still nice to have a small snack and watch all backpackers coming by. Theater on the street!
Los Angeles

In the morning before breakfast we decorated the Christmas tree in our hotel garden. For the first time we have adapted to Dutch time in the States, because our breakfast consisted hummous, vegetables and white wine. We spent some time on Hermosa Beach, watching beach volleybal. During the weekend there are so many activities going on on that beach. We went to the Getty Villa in Malibu afterwards. We were not allowed to go inside because we didn’t make reservations. But we nagged the person and suddenly we had two reservations in our hands. So beware: a reservation is necessary if you want to visit the Villa. The Getty Villa is worth a visit. The garden is so beautiful and we spotted some handsome gentlemen, especially Hercules in marble near the entrance.
Los Angeles

We survived crazy Black Friday. After a long flight and with a bundle of twigs between the aircraft’s wing flaps (no idea how they get there) we landed in our second home town. We rented a nice convertible and drove to Manhattan Village. We needed a strong coffee to keep us awake with nine hours time difference. An evening of shopping, a wheelchair and a shopping car later, we finally chilled with a glass of wine.
New York

Within five hours time we visited both East Village and Brooklyn. We spotted our colleague Dennis (one of our ‘guest sheeps’ in future) in the morning at breakfast. He gave us a tip to visit East Village. We tried to find some interesting places in East Village but in the end we both agreed that Brooklyn and Williamsburg are more inspiring places to us. After we crossed the East River to Brooklyn by subway again we had what we wanted again: vintage, hip spots, a vibrant atmosphere and on every corner great grafiti from unknown artists. It is a very inspiring place to be and an upcoming market for all kinds of artistic expressions. Check it out for yourself!
New York

We visited the Meat Packers district after our flight from Amsterdam to New York City and had a drink in The Standard. In the rooftop bar you have an amazing view over the city. We had some fun simulating a photo booth session in the photo booth of The Standard with our own camera . After that we went to the Gansevoort. At that place we decided that ‘don’t disturb the sheep’ should be our name for the business. A milestone! We celebrated that fact with a glass of sparkling wine!
Curacao

We rented a car and drove to Zest. This is a really relaxing place to be. Good food and drinks, nice sun beds and very good service. We drove back at the end of the day and crossed the Juliana bridge about three times up and down because every time we missed the exit to the hotel. Transformed in evening dresses we did the same trip again the other way around. We missed three times the Juliana Bridge again, but finally we reached Bijblauw. A nice restaurant where we had dinner near the water. Bijblauw’s owners are from the Netherlands. They started a few years back.
Curacao

At the Hilton we had a nice drink after a long working day with the blue eagle from Amsterdam. Margré felt really sick so we took it easy.
Buenos Aires

We had the ‘Last Supper’ before flying home after spending a wonderful week in Buenos Aires. Eating at Milion… well…the entourage was top notch but the staff was really uninterested and dull. The ceviche, as an entree, was delicious, but the main course was disappointing. But we had fun and it was such an amazing wonderful stay in Buenos to celebrate. Nothing could spoil that for us!
Buenos Aires

Busy schedule … woke up, had breakfast and continued with a 2CV tour through Buenos Aires. Too bad it was raining but nevertheless it was a fun tour with Martin, a former catwalk model, who lived in NYC for six years. We learned that the 2CV’s Brasilian nickname is ‘la rana’l, which means the Frog. In the Netherlands we call her ‘Ugly Duckling’. La rana bravely drove through the streets of BA while we admired her in all her splendor. We stayed in a coffee shop brainstorming about our proposed project together. Then we went to the San Telmo vintage market. How cool and what a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The two of us bought a vintage siphon, including it’s inherited story, told by a nice gentleman.
Buenos Aires

Fuerza Bruta is SENSATIONAL. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS!!!! Inspiring, spectacular, brutal, beautiful performers, visual explosion in all its facets…fantastic! After that great experience we talked to some of the cast and afterwards went to bar Isabel, the place to be. A very hip place but make a reservation, because otherwise you will have to stay on your feet the whole night without being allowed to sit. And don’t miss the restroom!
Buenos Aires

We had to work; a shuttle to Santiago de Chile their and back. An interruption of our holiday in Buenos Aires ;-). After work we went to the market opposite the cemetry in Recoleta. You can buy nice 100% genuine leather bags, silver rings and more handmade items. Worth a visit.
