We arrived in New York City, dressed up and had a drink in the very hip NoMad bar in The NoMad Hotel on 1170 Broadway. It has several bars with professional cocktail makers. A must-visit! Take in all the dark mahogany and leather, the carved elephants that support the shelves of bottles, and the bartenders, backlit like priests at a pagan ritual. And also important: the cocktails are delicious!

After five hours of sleep we had breakfast in our hotel and a business talk about don’t disturb the sheep. After lots of coffee we started making plans for the day. We set off by subway from Broadway via 14th street to Williamsburg with line L. We visited vintage stores like JunkBrooklyn and had a lovely lunch in House of Small Wonder. Williamsburg is an upcoming district. It is hip and happening, especially during the weekends. We love it!

Arrived in the big Apple at night time. Dressed up including high heels for a night out. We wanted to go to the roof top bar of Gansevoort at Park Avenue but unfortunately it was closed. Afterwards we took a glimpse at the roof top bar of 230 fifth but that was too crowded, becoming a tourist trap these days. We ended up on the roof top bar of ‘La Quinta’ on the 32nd street. A small roof top bar, quiet and with a nice view on the Empire State Building. We sipped our prosecco and inhaled the vibrant city of New York. This city is made for us!

Within five hours time we visited both East Village and Brooklyn. We spotted our colleague Dennis (one of our ‘guest sheeps’ in future) in the morning at breakfast. He gave us a tip to visit East Village. We tried to find some interesting places in East Village but in the end we both agreed that Brooklyn and Williamsburg are more inspiring places to us. After we crossed the East River to Brooklyn by subway again we had what we wanted again: vintage, hip spots, a vibrant atmosphere and on every corner great grafiti from unknown artists. It is a very inspiring place to be and an upcoming market for all kinds of artistic expressions. Check it out for yourself!

We visited the Meat Packers district after our flight from Amsterdam to New York City and had a drink in The Standard. In the rooftop bar you have an amazing view over the city. We had some fun simulating a photo booth session in the photo booth of The Standard with our own camera . After that we went to the Gansevoort. At that place we decided that ‘don’t disturb the sheep’ should be our name for the business. A milestone! We celebrated that fact with a glass of sparkling wine!

We love the big Apple. We went to Upper West Manhattan this time to the Green Flea Market which was fun. We made interesting small talk with the locals. One man who was selling vintage Cartier watches had the greatest slogan ever: “You are a victim of your own taste.” Worthy of being on a t-shirt! We went by subway to Brooklyn / Williamsburg and discovered beautiful new streets. We also visited a flea market. We enjoyed the wonderful weather, the superb atmosphere and the beautiful view over downtown from the other side of the water. We ended that day in the photo booth of the Ace Hotel. What fun was that!

New York City! Of course we did a lot of exploring: Chelsea market, Soho, Financial district , Ground Zero, the Hudson river, vintage shops, sushi, Bleecker street and Magnolia Bakery, THE cupcake shop of Sex in the city: the complete package!
